POMONA, Calif. - On Friday evening, a late goal by Cal Poly Pomona broke a 1-1 tie, as Cal State East Bay women's soccer fell 2-1 to Cal Poly Pomona in CCAA action at Kellogg Stadium. The Pioneers' goal was from
Mika Sayfurahman in the first half.
- The Broncos struck first when Tara Oper scored her sixth goal of the season in the 22nd minute. Auburn Burnett assisted on the opening goal.
- Sayfurahman tied the match at 1-1 in the 40th minute on an unassisted goal.
- In the 88th minute, a shot off the left post was rebounded by Bailey McNitt who scored the game winning goal as Cal Poly Pomona won 2-1.
- Sayfurahman scored her team-high sixth goal of the season and third in the last four matches. In four straight matches, Sayfurahman has at least one point.
- Cal Poly Pomona had a 7-3 advantage in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks
- With two matches remaining, the Pioneers' chances of qualifying for the CCAA Tournament took a hit on Friday, but the final available tournament spot remains within reach. Cal State East Bay is in a seventh place tie at 13 points, two points out of the final qualifying spot in the conference standings. Six points are available with two matches remaining, as the CCAA Tournament clinching scenarios will come into greater focus following Sunday's CCAA action.
