HAYWARD, Calif. – On Saturday at Pioneer Gymnasium, the Cal State East Bay women's basketball team won its second consecutive game with a 66-46 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay. Also happening for a second consecutive game was a double-double from
Grace Campbell.
After
Jaela Richardson scored the first four points of the game in the opening quarter, the Pioneers did not look back. They built their lead up to as much as 13 points after a
Delia Moore layup at the 3:49 mark of the quarter, and finished the quarter ahead 22-13.
While the Otters were within six points in the second quarter on multiple occasions, Cal State East Bay took a 30-22 lead into halftime.
Gradually, the Pioneers pulled away in the second half, and led by as much as 23 points, ultimately finishing with a 66-46 victory.
- Reaching a double-double for the second straight game was Campbell with 17 points and 11 rebounds. She went 7-for-14 from the floor with three 3-pointers.
- For a fourth consecutive game, Richardson scored in double figures, finishing with 16 points.
- Defensively, Campbell had a block and a pair of steals on Saturday.
- The Pioneers went 24-for-58 from the floor and 13-for-18 from the free throw line.
- Leading the Otters in scoring with nine points was Kiana Griffin.

"Good to pick another home victory. Started off strong but need to be able to sustain for extended periods. We came up big on the defensive end in the [fourth quarter] and will look to continue to build momentum headed into our next game."
