HAYWARD, Calif. - After dropping three straight matches going into Thursday, the Cal State East Bay men's soccer team responded with a 1-0 victory over UC Santa Cruz at Pioneer Stadium Thursday evening.
Peter Hawken scored the game-winner in the 75th minute leading the Pioneers to a non-conference victory.
- Hawken found the net for his first goal of the season in the 75th minute. Assisting on the goal was Aaron Farnan.
- Hawken's goal was the first of his career at Cal State East Bay.
- Farnan's assist led to his seventh point of the season, which leads the team.
- With a team-high three shots for the Pioneers was Drew Gibbons.
- Making six saves in net for his second shutout of the season was Zavier Hajdukovich.

My teammate Drew [Gibbons] told me to mark the goalkeeper and then Aaron [Farnan] sent a ball near post and I was like I have to get a ball, got the ball and went in."
