HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team hosted a non-conference matchup on Saturday, and played to a 2-2 draw with Academy of Art. Scoring both goals for the Pioneers was Michael Rossi.
 

GOAL SUMMARY

• The Urban Knights struck first with an unassisted goal in the 14^th minute from Gilly Miller.
• It was less than one minute after the opening goal that Rossi found the net for the Pioneers to even the match at 1-1. Assisting on the goal was Josh Gaeckle.
• Kendryx Soriano gave ART U a 2-1 lead in the 66^th minute. Miller assisted on the go-ahead goal.
• The lead did not last very long, as Rossi scored his second goal of the match, an equalizer, to even the match at 2-2. Like Cal State East Bay's first goal, Gaeckle assisted on the second goal.

NOTABLE STATS

• While Rossi scored two goals, he also led the Pioneers in shots with four on Saturday. After Saturday's match, he leads the team in shots for the season with 16.
• In net for Cal State East Bay, Zavier Hajdukovich made five saves.
• Gaeckle's three assists is tied for second most in the CCAA through Saturday's action.

Rossi following the match describing how each of his goals were set up:
"So Josh [Gaeckle] dribbling down the sideline and then the first one I was kind of waiting at the top of the box, played me a ball to my feet and then I took a touch around the defender and then put it the opposite post, across my body and then it just rolled right in. And then the second one, Josh was dribbling past two or three guys and then just laid it across the goal and I had an easy tap-in in back post."
