ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The final round of the NCAA Regional Preview took place Tuesday at Foxtail Golf Club. The Cal State East Bay men's golf team placed fourth among 11 teams, while
Fraser Owenson finished sixth on the leaderboard.
Here are some individual highlights for Cal State East Bay throughout the tournament.
- Owenson placed sixth at 6-under-par 210. He had one eagle and 11 birdies on 54 holes played.
- Tied for 13th on the leaderboard were Won Jun Lee and Quentyn Kowata – each 1-under-par 215. Kowata competed as an individual, thus his score did not affect the Pioneers' team score.
- Lee, Kowata and Ananjan Kaushik had 12 birdies each.
- In addition to Owenson's eagle, Easton Hether had an eagle in his first career tournament with Cal State East Bay.

Alan Sue reflected on the team's performance. "This was a solid start to our season," stated Sue. "The team battled hard in all three rounds. We got some valuable education on this regional course and will be ready for the challenge in the second preview in April."
The host team, Sonoma State, won the team competition. At 15-under-par 201, Edvin Backstrom from Holy Names was the individual medalist atop the leaderboard.
Next Monday and Tuesday, the Pioneers will compete in the WWU Invitational, which takes place at Bellingham Golf & Country Club in Bellingham, Washington.
