After dropping the first match in the season opener against Holy Names, the Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team responded with three straight victories in the tournament to begin the 2022 season. During the tournament, the Pioneers played 19 sets of the potential 20. 

The Pioneers will look to carry their recent success into this week's NorCal Kickoff, a jointly hosted tournament by Dominican (Calif.) and Sonoma State. The three day, four match tournaments include the first match at Dominican, followed by two matches on Friday, and one final match in the tournament on Saturday, which is a rematch against Holy Names. 
 
PLAYERS TO WATCH
 
Taylor Miche - Libero
Miche had an outstanding defensive showing in the Green Chile Classic, including a 24 dig performance against Western New Mexico.

Mia Jordan - Middle Blocker
Through four matches, Jordan has 295 kills for the most on the Pioneers. Defensively, Jordan has 14.0 total blocks.

Megan Crecelius - Setter
Crecelius leads the Pioneers in assists with 97 on the season, averaging 5.11 per set.

About Dominican
The Penguins are off to an 0-3 start and have not won a set this far this season. Ella Heckman has 11 kills on the season. 

About Academy of Art
ART U comes off an 0-4 start with all matches played in the last week's Otter Invitational. Katherine Von Kraut has a team high 40 kills on the season. 

About Fresno Pacific
FPU has yet to play a match in 2022. The Sunbirds face Menlo in an exhibition on Wednesday and face Sonoma State on Saturday morning before a showdown with the Pioneers. 

About Holy Names
In five sets, HNU defeated the Pioneers in the Green Chile Classic last week. The Hawks enter the tournament at 4-0.
