Cal State East Bay opens the 2022 season with four matchups in the Green Chile Classic in New Mexico, starting this coming Friday.Â
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Kara Green - Opposite
Entering her junior season, Green started 26 matches in 2021 and earned All-CCAA Honorable Mention. She had 205 kills during the season, nine service aces and 201 digs.Â
Mia Jordan - Middle Blocker
A sophomore middle blocker, Jordan led Cal State East Bay in total blocks last season with 56.0 and had a team-high .271 attack percentage.Â
Lexi Pagani - Opposite
A transfer from Fresno City College, Pagani helped her team win the CCCAA Championship (junior college California state championship) in 2021. Starting 32 matches, she had a .382 hitting percentage and 345 kills.Â
ABOUT HOLY NAMES
2021 Record: 9-19
Despite only nine wins, the Hawks finished the 2021 season strong with three straight victories. Averaging over three kills per set and returning to the roster is Lauren Sera. Sera also had 326 digs. Last September, Cal State East Bay defeated HNU, 3-0 and has won the last two matchups between both teams.Â
ABOUT WESTERN NEW MEXICO
2021 Record: 4-22
Bria Augustine returns to to the Mustangs for a fifth season after earning All-Lone Star Conference Second Team honors. Augustine was a statistical leader in two categiroes for WNMUÂ during the 2021 season with 286 kills and 258 digs.Â
ABOUT FORT LEWIS
2021 Record: 6-16
Sophomore Alexis Hobie was selected as a Player to Watch in the RMAC. She led the Skyhawks in kills last season with 220, averaging 2.72 per set (11th in the RMAC). Cal State East Bay and Fort Lewis last met during the 2015 season, as the Pioneers won in four sets over the Skyhawks.Â
ABOUT WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE
2021 Record: 8-18
The Rangers are Cal State East Bay's final opponent in the 2022 Green Chile Classic. Jazmine Neal returns to UW-Parkside's roster after a 2021 season in which she led the Ranger in blocks (84.0) to eventually be named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.Â
