LIVERMORE, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's golf team played sharp in consecutive days this week en route to an impressive team victory at the NNU Poppy Ridge Invitational this week hosted by Northwest Nazarene at Poppy Ridge Golf Course. 

The Pioneers shot 583 (+7) over the two-day tournament, including a a 286 in Tuesday's second round, which was the second-best score among the 16-team field. 

Fraser Owenson finished second overall behind a score of 141 (-3). A native of Nairn, Scotland, Owenson's score of 69 (-3) on Tuesday was tied for the best of all players. 

In addition, Tommy Jernigan was right behind Owenson and place tied for third, shooting an even 144 overall. The El Cajon native shot a 71 (-1) on Tuesday, which was tied for second best of the day.

Xavier Coreno and Quentyn Kowata tied for 12th place after shooting 147 (+3) this week, while Aaron Lee ended up tied for 19th with a 148 (+4) and Ananjan Kaushik placed 36th (152, +8).

CSUEB resumes action next week, as East Bay hosts the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park Golf Gourse in Alameda.
