East Bay Splits Two vs. Monterey Bay

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay softball team split two road conference contests against Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday, defeating the Otters in the Game 1, 5-4, before dropping Game 2, 10-0, in six innings.

Madeline Ramirez went 2-for-3 with three runs scored in the early victory, while freshman catcher and reigning CCAA Player of the Week Annelise Garcia tripled and finished 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Senior pitcher Abby Greer allowed three earned runs on seven hits while striking out six in four innings pitched, before Savannah Barchus (2-0) tossed three scoreless inning while striking out two to earn the win in the circle.

Garcia's RBI triple in the fifth scored Kylie Coelho to tie the score, 4-4, and Ramirez scored the eventual game-winning run on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh.

CSUEB (13-6, 7-3 CCAA) resumes action against the Otters with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m.
