Sarah Duran and

The Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and added three more runs in the second inning. Four of the six runs were from RBI doubles by CSUSM.
In the bottom of the fifth, a double from Ryann Steiner that drove in two runs effectively ended the game by run rule, as CSUSM won 8-0.

In the top of the seventh, the bases were loaded for the Pioneers with the tying run on first base.
CSUEB scored two runs after
Sarah Fukushima hit into a fielder's choice, as she drove in Ching.
Sara Cano scored on an error after the fielder's choice, as the Pioneers cut the deficit to 3-2.
Although Duran followed with a single, the Pioneers didn't capitalize as the final out of the series came on a fielder's choice, as the Cougars' 3-2 win completed a series sweep.
The Pioneers (14-11, 8-8 CCAA) return to action on Friday, March 18 when they host a CCAA doubleheader against Cal State Dominguez Hills. Game one is set for 1 p.m. from Pioneer Softball Field, followed by game two at 3 p.m.
