PLEASANTON, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's golf team played it's best round of the week on Tuesday, finishing strong to tie for third place overall at the 2022 Bay Area Invitational, played at The Club at Ruby Hill.
The Pioneers shot 292 in the third and final round, which was tied for best in the 13-team field. East Bay trailed Western Washington by nine holes entering Tuesday, and was able to rally for the third-place tie.
Fraser Owenson tied for fifth overall, and had the team's best score Tuesday of 71 to finish with an even 216 (E) for the two-day tournament.
Xavier Coreno was just behind Owenson after shooting a 72 on Tuesday, and finished seventh overall with a score of 217 (+1).
Quentyn Kowata shot a 74 in Tuesday's final round and finished at 224 (+8), while
Ananjan Kaushik (229, +13) tied for 40th and
Tommy Jernigan (234, +18) was tied for 49th, rounding out the scoring for East Bay.
CSUEB returns to action on March 7 with the Nighthawk Invitational in Livermore.
