No. RV East Bay Drops Hard Fought Contest to No. 23 Marist in OT, 16-13

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The No. RV Cal State East Bay water polo team closed out this week's Santa Clara Mini with a hard-fought overtime defeat to No. 23-ranked Marist, 16-13, on Sunday afternoon.

CSUEB (6-4) rallied to score three of the last four goals of regulation and tied the score 12-12 to send the game into overtime, but after a Payton Bosque goal in the first overtime period knotted the score 13-13, Marist scored the final three goals to hold on for the win.

Freshman Bailey Barlow continued her strong weekend by scoring four goals, while Leti Mosqueda finished with three goals and Jordan Jarandson added two goals with an assist.

Hannah Peercy also recorded two second-half goals, and goalkeeper Daniela Passoni tallied 16 saves in the cage.

East Bay trailed 7-5 at halftime, but two third-quarter goals apiece by Mosqueda and Peercy tied the score at 9-9 entering the fourth quarter.

The Pioneers resume action next weekend for their home opener against San Jose State on Saturday, Feb. 26, beginning at 1 p.m.
