Justin Vigil made a 3-pointer from the corner as time expired, leading the Cal State East Bay men's basketball team to a road victory over Cal Poly Humboldt in triple overtime, 86-84, Saturday evening at Lumberjack Arena.
East Bay (8-12, 6-8 CCAA) has won four-straight games and currently stands in seventh place in the CCAA standings. The Pioneers play sixth-place San Francisco State (11-12, 8-8) at home this Thursday, Feb. 17, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Vigil finished with 20 points, including his sixth 3-pointer of the game to win it.
Zack Perlstein played all 50 minutes and matched his career high with 25 points and eight rebounds.
Freshman guard
DJ Sanders scored 15 points with three rebounds and three assists off the bench.
Vigil's second-biggest three of the night came with 10 seconds left in the first overtime period, tying the score 71-71. Early in the third overtime, Perlstein's three put the Pioneers on top 81-80 with 3:22 left to play.
Jesse Galloway followed with a driving layup to extend the lead to three before consecutive Humboldt baskets set up Vigil's late heroics.
