HAYWARD, Calif. – The final home match of the 2022 season for the Cal State East Bay women's soccer team took place at Pioneer Stadium on Sunday. The Pioneers came back to tie the match at 3-3 with three consecutive second half goals. However, the Golden Eagles netted the eventual game winner in the 87
th minute for a 4-3 win. Four seniors from Cal State East Bay were honored prior to their final home contest on Sunday.
Honored for their time and contributions in the ceremony were
Andrea Aborqui,
Sofia Caparelli,
Maya Lawrence and
Kayla Morales.
- The Golden Eagles opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Thaiz Hernandez scored directly off a free kick for a 1-0 lead.
- Alice Hernandez scored for a 2-0 lead in the 37th minute. Kimberly Gamez assisted on Hernandez's goal.
- The lead for CSULA grew to 3-0 in the 51st minute on a goal from Melody Landphear, which was assisted by Erin Schrock.
- In the 56th minute, a handball by the Golden Eagles gave a penalty kick opportunity to the Pioneers to get on the board. Mika Sayfurahman was successful on the attempt for her second goal of the season.
- Morgan Pearson netted her team-high fifth goal of the season in the 63rd minute. Jordan Salmon assisted on the goal that cut the deficit to 3-2.
- A pass from Kelsey Pena in the 78th minute found Yvette Moreno, who scored her first goal of the season to tie the match at 3-3.
- After the game was tied, a goal from Liliana Gonzalez in the 87th minute broke the tie, and ended up as the game winner for CSULA.
- Aborqui and Pearson each had a pair of shots in the match.
- In her final home match with the Pioneers, Morales played a full 90 minutes on the pitch.

The 2022 season finale for the Pioneers takes place Thursday at Stanislaus State. Kickoff from Warrior Stadium is set for 11:30 a.m. Earlier this season, the Pioneers and Warriors met in a non-conference match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
