Morales Scores Goal in Thursday’s Season Finale

TURLOCK, Calif. – The final match of the 2022 season took place for the Cal State East Bay women's soccer team on Thursday with a CCAA matchup at Stanislaus State. A late goal by the Warriors broke a 1-1 tie, as the Pioneers fell 2-1 in the season finale. CSUEB's goal was from Kayla Morales.

GOAL SUMMARY
 
  • Cal State East Bay struck first in the 22nd minute when Morales netted her first goal of the season, and second of her career. Picking up her team-high third assist of the season on the goal was Kelsey Pena.
  • The Warriors tied the match at 1-1 in the 61st minute when Makeila Yancey scored an unassisted goal.
  • In the 87th minute, Jackzeny Mancilla scored her fourth goal of the season, giving Stanislaus State a 2-1 lead which would end up as the final score.

  • Leading the Pioneers in shots on Thursday with three was Jordan Salmon.
  • Morales, Morgan Pearson, Sara Redfield and Jordan Smith all played a full 90 minutes of action.
  • Smith finished the season playing all 1,530 minutes in net with 31 saves.
  • Much of Cal State East Bay's offensive presence in 2022 was from Pearson, who led the team in goals with five and shots with 37 (18 on frame).
