MALIBU, Calif. – On Saturday, the second of back-to-back dual meets took place between the Cal State East Bay women's swimming team and Pepperdine. The Pioneers lost in the overall team scoring, 167-95, but there were some notable individual and relay team achievements on Saturday for Cal State East Bay.
Here are some of the meet highlights from Saturday for the Pioneers.
- In the 200 yard freestyle, Emilie Giannini placed first with a time of one minute, 57.29 seconds, which was also a personal best.
- Giannini also reached a personal best in the 500 yard freestyle, as her second place finish was completed in 5:17.29. In the same event, Jacqueline Feurtado reached a personal best of 5:23.05.
- Brooklyn Dressel placed first in the 100 yard freestyle, with a time of 53.04 seconds.
- CSUEB's third individual event with a top finisher was the 100 yard butterfly, as Emma Knott placed first in 59.63 seconds.
- The final event of the day went in favor of the Pioneers, as the 200 yard individual medley relay team of Dressel, Giannini, Feurtado and Delaney Carlson placed first in 3:34.81.
The first official home meet of the 2022-23 season for the Pioneers takes place next Saturday. The meet will be a tri-meet featuring Cal State East Bay, Nevada and UC Davis at Pioneer Pool. Start time is set for noon.
