HAYWARD, Calif. – The first CCAA victory of the season for the Cal State East Bay men's soccer team took place Friday evening, as the Pioneers shut out Sonoma State, 2-0.
 

GOAL SUMMARY

• Daniil Menshikov netted his first goal of the season in the 34^th minute to give Cal State East Bay a 1-0 lead.
• In the 70^th minute, Brandon Axton scored his first goal as a Pioneer to give CSUEB a 2-0 lead. Josh Gaeckle and Aaron Farnan assisted on Axton's goal.

NOTABLE STATS

• Gaeckle now has four assists on the season to lead the team.
• Michael Rossi had a team-high five shots, with two on frame.
• Non-goalkeepers playing a full 90 minutes were Mateo DiDomenico, Drew Gibbons, Peter Hawken and Landon Raftery.
• Picking up his fourth shutout of the season was Zavier Hajdukovich with four saves.

"My teammates came down the right side of the field and the ball got through all the defenders and I just opened my hips and I just placed it in the bottom left corner and when I scored it I couldn't even think."
