HAYWARD, Calif. – For the second straight match, the Cal State East Bay men's soccer team earned a CCAA shutout victory as the Pioneers defeated San Francisco State, 1-0.
Josh Gaeckle's first goal of the season made the difference on the scoreboard and
Zavier Hajdukovich had his third consecutive shutout in net.
- It was exactly one year and a day between goals scored by Gaeckle, as Sunday's goal was the third of his career.
- Hajdukovich earned a third straight shutout on Sunday with two saves. HE now has a 1.27 GAA this season.
- Menshikov and Farnan have picked up a point in consecutive matches.
- Farnan's nine points is a team-high.
- In the field, non-goalkeepers playing a full 90 minutes for Cal State East Bay include Mateo DiDomenico, Drew Gibbons, Peter Hawken and Landon Raftery.
- The Pioneers have won back-to-back matches for the first time since early in the 2019 season.
Josh Gaeckle describing the play setting him up for the goal:
"My teammates couldn't have made it a whole lot easier for me. All I had to do was stand there and kick it. So a whole lot of credit goes to both of them for setting that up."
