No. RV East Bay Wins 14th Straight, Tops Cal Poly Pomona, 64-55

POMONA, Calif. — The No. RV Cal State East Bay women's basketball team won its 14th-consecutive game on Saturday afternoon, as the Pioneers eared a road victory over Cal Poly Pomona, 64-55, at Kellogg Gym.

CSUEB (15-1, 10-0 CCAA) remains all alone in first place in the CCAA standings and has swept the season series against Cal Poly Pomona (5-11, 4-8) for the first time since 2015-16. In addition, the Pioneers are receiving votes in the WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll this week for the first time this season.

Freshman guard Abigail Cooper led all scorers with a season-high 15 points and five rebounds, junior guard Delia Moore added 14 points with four rebounds and three assists, while junior guard Grace Campbell had a big game with 10 points and a season-high 15 rebounds.

East Bay fell behind 13-6 after the first quarter of play, but turned it around with a 10-2 run to start the second period capped off by senior Sylvia Vartazarian's layup inside to make it 23-15 with five minutes remaining in the first half.

The Pioneers went on to build a 32-20 halftime advantage, and began the second half with a quick 7-0 run to push the lead to 19 on a Cooper 3-pointer with 8:31 left in the third quarter.

CSUEB returns home for a huge game next week, as the Pioneers look to continue their momentum against second-place Cal State San Marcos on Thursday, Feb. 3, beginning at 5 p.m.
