HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team is set for its first home games inside Pioneer Gym in over a month, as CSUEB plays host to Humboldt State on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m., before facing Sonoma State on Saturday, Jan. 22, beginning at 3 p.m.

It will be East Bay's first home game inside Pioneer Gym since Dec. 16, as the last two scheduled conference contests were canceled due to COVID protocol.

CSUEB (3-10, 1-6 CCAA) has won three-straight contests against Humboldt State, including the last two played in Hayward. The Pioneers has won four of their last five against Sonoma State, with three-consecutive wins against the Seawolves inside Pioneer Gym.

The Pioneers have the CCAA's fifth-best scoring offense, averaging 72.9 points per game, are second in the conference in assists per game (15.3), are third in free-throw shooting (.736) and fifth in 3-point field-goal percentage (.343).

Senior forward Zafir Williams ranks ninth in the CCAA averaging 15.2 points per contest and has the second-best free-throw percentage in the conference (.892). Meanwhile, junior guard Jesse Galloway ranks third in the conference in assists per game (4.3) and has the CCAA's second-best assist-to-turnover ratio (2.8).

The Pioneers dropped their last road contest at San Francisco State, 76-64, on Jan. 15. Freshman guard DJ Sanders scored a team-high 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, while Williams finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Sophomore guard Kaito Williams added 10 points with six rebounds and three assists, and senior forward Justin Vigil scored eight points with five rebounds.
