HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay swim team put on a show in its final home meet of the season on Saturday, as the Pioneers celebrated Senior Day with a victory over Azusa Pacific, 170-91.
With the bleachers full of family, friends and spectators, CSUEB showed off its depth against a conference opponent.
East Bay started the day strong, as the 200-yard medley relay team of senior
Alondra Ortiz, junior
Tori Padilla, freshman
Emma Knott and freshman
Delaney Carlson cruised to a first-place time of 1-minute, 50.16-seconds.
Ortiz also grabbed top finishes in the 100 backstroke (1:00.43) and 200 backstroke (2:11.84), while senior
Maddie Wittkowske won the 1000 freestyle behind a mark of 10:50.01.
Padilla had a big day for the Pioneers, as the Redlands native earned first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:15.03) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.52). Sophomore
Chenoa Bodero placed first in the 200 butterfly (2:11.89), Knott took first in the 100 fly (59.55) and Carlson won both the 50 free (24.79) and 200 breast (2:27.20).
East Bay finished off the day with the 400 free relay team of Carlson, sophomore
Olivia Parham,
Brooklyn Dressel and senior
Isabel Rishwain taking first with a time of 3:34.10.
CSUEB resumes action in two weeks, as the Pioneers travel to take on Fresno Pacific on Jan. 29.
