East Bay Unable to Sustain Early Momentum in Non-Conference Loss at Stan State

TURLOCK, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team dropped a non-conference road match at Stanislaus State on Saturday evening, 6-1.

Junior Danil Menshikov scored his first-career goal in a Pioneer uniform, knocking through a low shot in the 30th minute to pull CSUEB within 2-1.

But Stan State scored on a penalty kick in the 40th minute to close out the first half, and the Pioneers were unable to recover.

Senior Tommy Flora and junior Josh Gaeckle both had two shots on goal to lead East Bay, while sophomore Adam Mockridge had one shot on target.

Freshman goalkeeper Zavier Hajdukovich finished with five saves and fellow freshman goalie Jack Landreth recorded one stop.

Cal State East Bay (1-4-1) returns home this week to begin California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play against Cal State Dominguez Hills beginning at 4:30 p.m.
