HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team was unable to get its offense going on Sunday afternoon, dropping a close match to visiting Hawai'i Pacific, 1-0, as part of the East Bay Fall Classic at Pioneer Stadium.
Hawai'i Pacific broke a scoreless tie in the second half on Gerrit Arzberger's goal in the 77th minute off an assist from Sebastian Navarro.
CSUEB (1-2-1) was just about even with HPU on shots attempted, with the Pioneers recording 14 to the Sharks' 15. East Bay had three shots on target, while Hawai'i Pacific finished with eight.
Eleven different Pioneers recorded a shot on the day, led by three from sophomore
Nikita Charsov (two on target) and two shots from sophomore
Adam Mockridge.
Freshman
Jack Landreth made his first-career start in the net and finished with three saves, while fellow senior
Zavier Hajdukovich played the second half and tallied four saves.
CSUEB returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 16, with a home matchup against San Francisco State beginning at 12 p.m.
