HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team fell short in its regular-season finale Thursday afternoon against Stanislaus State, 2-0, but will have a chance at redemption sooner than expected.
The Pioneers will play host to the Warriors in the first round of the CCAA Championship tournament this Sunday, Nov. 7, at Pioneer Stadium beginning at 2 p.m. It will be the third meeting between the two teams this season.

CSUEB (9-5-3, 6-3-2) heads into its first-ever CCAA tournament as the No. 3 seed, after recording its most victories in a season since winning 10 matches in 2008.
East Bay out-shot the Warriors 16-6, with a dominant 9-1 edge in shots on target. However, Stan State capitalized on ball that bounced away from goalkeeper
Jordan Smith in the 58th minute and was knocked into the net by Julia Cummings to make it 1-0.
The Warriors' second score came on a Pioneer own-goal in the 79th minute.

Riley Spitzer recorded a team-high three shots on goal, while junior
Kelsey Pena had two shots on target and Smith finished with two saves.
