Pioneers Fall in Wild Overtime Game vs. Alaska Fairbanks, 98-89

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker Saturday afternoon in a wild overtme game against Alaska Fairbanks, 98-89.

The Pioneers led by 12 in the second half and seemed to be in control leading 82-79 with three seconds left. But Alaska Fairbanks' Quin Barnard made a halfcourt shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

Senior forward Zafir Williams had a second-straight impressive performance, finishing with a career-high 32 points with 11 rebounds and two blocks. The Long Beach native shot 11-of-18 from the field and made 4-of-8 3-pointers. 

Junior guard Kaito Williams scored 13 points, while junior guard Jesse Galloway had 10 points with five assists, and fellow junior Zack Perlstein scored 10 with seven rebounds and three assists.

CSUEB (2-3) returns to action at home against Saint Martin's on Wednesday, Nov. 24, beginning at 4 p.m.
