HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team has been picked to finish third in the 2021-22 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Preseason Coaches Poll, the conference announced on Wednesday.
The Pioneers received 121 points and two first-place votes to finish ahead of fourth-place Cal State LA (86). Cal State San Marcos is predicted to finish first with 138 points and seven first-place votes, while Cal Poly Pomona was picked second with 131 points and three first-place votes.
Despite not playing any games during the 2020-21 season, CSUEB received votes in the Division II Sports Information Directors Association (D2SIDA) West Region Preseason poll.
Cal State East Bay finished the 2019-20 campaign with a 18-12 overall record en route to reaching the CCAA Semifinals for the fifth time in the last six years.
Guard
Madison Schiller earned second-team All-CCAA honors, while guard
Delia Moore received the 2019-20 CCAA Women's Basketball Championship Scholar Award.
The Pioneers begin the 2021-22 season against Northwest Nazarene in the CCAA-GNAC Crossover hosted by Stanislaus State on Nov. 12 at 5 p.m.
