Pioneers Play Cal State San Marcos to Tie, Extend Unbeaten Streak to Three

HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team played visiting Cal State San Marcos to a tie, 0-0, on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Stadium.

CSUEB (8-3-3, 5-1-2 CCAA) is now unbeaten in its last three matches. The Pioneers are is tied for second place in the CCAA standings with SF State, with a big road showdown against the Gators coming up next on Friday, Oct. 29, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Junior goalkeeper Jordan Smith finished with four saves, including a game-changing stop on a penalty kick late in the 12th minute. East Bay had five players record a shot on goal, including junior forward Jill Nelsen, who played all 110 minutes alongside senior defender Kayla Morales on the back line.

CSUEB outshot San Marcos, 20-9, and had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
