Pios 'Dig For A Cure' in Win Over San Marcos, 3-1

HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay volleyball team earned a home victory on 'Dig For a Cure' Night against conference foe Cal State San Marcos, 3-1 (25-21, 17-25, 25-22, 25-19).

CSUEB (8-9, 3-6 CCAA) has won two-straight matches and three of its last four. The Pioneers have pulled into eighth place in the CCAA standings, two games behind San Marcos (8-7, 5-4 CCAA) as they get set to face the Cougars again in San Marcos this Saturday at 1 p.m.

The top six seeds in the conference standings qualify for the CCAA Championships starting Nov. 18.

Junior Kara Green had a season-high 14 kills, and redshirt freshman setter Megan Crecelius had a career-best 42 assists in the Pioneers' second-straight home win. Freshman Alexandria Gloria had 12 kills and junior Breyan Ashley had 11 kills, including four aces.

Redshirt freshman Mia Jordan recorded six blocks and freshman libero Taylor Miche added 12 digs.

At this week's events, CSUEB has ask that fans wear pink to raise awareness and to honor breast cancer survivors, those still fighting the disease and those who have passed. Eastbay SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) will raise money here for a local organization, HERS (Hope, Empowerment, Renewal, and Support) Breast Cancer Foundation. HERS is a non-profit local organization serving Bay Area breast cancer patients and under-served patients in need. All donations, regardless of amount, will make an impact. Here are examples of the difference your contributions will make:
