Pioneers Drop Tough Match to Chico State, 1-0

HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team lost a close match to Chico State on Thursday evening at Pioneer Stadium, 1-0.

The defeat snaps a streak of four-straight decisions without a loss for CSUEB (6-3-2, 3-1-1 CCAA).

Senior Riley Spitzer recorded a team-high three shot attempts, while juniors Kelsey Pena and Andrea Aborqui each had one shot on target.

Chico State scored in the 80th minute when Antonia Diaz rebounded a long shot off the posted and knocked it through. It snapped the Pioneers' run 435 minutes played without allowing a goal (37th minute vs. Dominguez Hills on Oct. 1).

Cal State East Bay returns to action in a road match on Sunday against Humboldt State beginning at 11:30 a.m.

At this week's events, CSUEB has ask that fans wear pink to raise awareness and to honor breast cancer survivors, those still fighting the disease and those who have passed. Eastbay SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) will raise money here for a local organization, HERS (Hope, Empowerment, Renewal, and Support) Breast Cancer Foundation. HERS is a non-profit local organization serving Bay Area breast cancer patients and under-served patients in need. All donations, regardless of amount, will make an impact. Here are examples of the difference your contributions will make:
