Gonzales' Walk-Off Homer Propels Pioneers Past Humboldt State

HAYWARD, Calif. — Junior Jeana Gonzales hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to propel the Cal State East Bay softball team to a series-opening home victory over Humboldt State, 8-6, Friday afternoon at Pioneer Field.

Gonzales' two-run blast to left with no outs scored junior Maddie Ramirez, who led off the inning with a double to right center for her second of the day.

Senior Emilie Portesi also homered in the fourth inning and finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, while senior Sarah Fukushima went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The Pioneers dropped Game 2 to the Lumberjacks 16-0.
