LIVERMORE, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay men's golf senior
Joey Herrera captured his first tournament championship of this season at the NDNU Invitational. He finished five strokes under par at Poppy Ridge Gold Course thanks to an incredibly impressive 36-hole performance on Monday, leading the Pioneers to third place in the team standings.

Herrera was brilliant on the first day of the tournament finishing with a 70 (-2). The Fillmore native followed that up with a 69 (-3) Monday afternoon to take a six-stroke lead into Tuesday's final round. He finished the week with a total of 211 (-5) and held off a late charge by Holy Names' Zachary McClure to win by five strokes.

In total, every Pioneer finished in the top -40 as East Bay compiled their third straight top-three in what has been a very strong 2019-20 season thus far.

Moses Greene turned in a consistent effort to place ninth for the Pioneers at five over par.
Jake Malone captured a share of 15th place after tallying a final score of 223.
Ryan Hong and
Fraser Owenson took home a share of 38th place after shooting a 231.

Individually,
Max Murai finished with a share of 25th place at twelve over par.Â

Below are CSUEB's final individual scores. The team now has just four regular season tournaments remaining before CCAA Championships, starting with their annual Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout next week at Corica Park South Course in Alameda, Calif.
