POMONA, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team lost a hard-fought road contest against No. RV Cal Poly Pomona, 67-54, Thursday evening at Kellogg Arena.

Zafir Williams finished with 16 points and six rebounds, while Junior
Nai Carlisle scored 11 points.Â
CSUEB trailed 26-22 after a low-scoring first half, and a quick 5-0 spurt to open the second half by CPP pushed the lead to nine.
The Pioneers trailed by as many as 19 in the second half, but a 13-0 run capped off by Williams' bucket inside cut the deficit to six, 55-49, with 3:07 left to play.
But a Nikhil Peters' 3-pointer followed by two free throws by William Christmas extended the Broncos' lead to 11 with less than two minutes remaining.
Cal State East Bay drops to sixth place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings with one regular-season game left at Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday beginning at 8 p.m.
