Pioneer Women Wrap Up Regular Season with A Pair of Key Road Matches Against Broncos, Coyotes

HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team will wrap up their 2019-20 regular season schedule with a pair of key California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchups against Cal Poly Pomona and San Bernardino this week.
 
East Bay will visit Cal Poly on Thursday, February 27 at 5:30 pm in Kellogg Gym before playing their regular season finale Saturday, February 29 at 5:30 in Coussoulis Arena.
 
The Pioneers are currently 16-10 on the season with a 12-8 record in conference action. CSUEB has already claimed a spot in the CCAA Postseason but whether that opening game take place in Hayward or elsewhere depends on how the Pios perform this weekend.
 
East Bay, who is seated in the four spot of the CCAA standings, and can finish anywhere from third to sixth place.  Cal Poly Pomona, Chico State, Stanislaus State, Sonoma State and Humboldt State along with the Pioneers are all jockeying for the positon in the playoff race.

  • The Pioneers are currently 16-10 on the season with a 12-8 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play.

  • Cal State East Bay is 3rd in the CCAA in rebounding margin at +6.5 so far this season.
  • Madison Schiller is leading the squad with 9.8 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field including upping her average to 10.2 ppg on 43.4% shooting in conference play.
  • Schiller has collected a team-high 47 steals on the season, 5th most in the CCAA.
  • Morgan Greene is leading the Pioneers with 8.5 rpg., 6th best in the CCAA. She is also 5th in the league with 220 total rebounds. Greene is also 6th in the league in blocks with 21.
  • Greene has recorded six or more rebounds in ten of the last 11 games, including 10 total double digit games of the sort this season. She is also averaging 9.5 ppg and 8.9 rpg in CCAA play.
  • Zhane Duckett and Madison Schiller are all currently in the top 20 in the conference in assists. Duckett is 13th at 2.6 and Schiller is 20th at 2.3. Duckett is second of the team and 8th in the CCAA in steals with 39. 
 
SCOUTING CAL POLY POMONA
The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos enter their matchup against the Pioneers with a 17-9 overall record and a 13-7 showing in CCAA action after sweeping Cal State L.A. and Dominguez Hills last week. Kasey Smit is leading the Broncos with 13.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Jackie Ricketson is adding 10.2 points, 5.9 assists and 6.8 rebounds for Cal Poly Pomona.
 
SCOUTING CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO
The San Bernardino Coyotes come into their ballgame against East Bay carrying a 3-20 record on the season with a 3-17 mark in league play after falling to Cal State L.A. and Dominguez Hills in last week's action. Kayla Bibb leads San Bernardino with 13.3 points and 7.8 rebounds. Ashlynn Sharp is chipping in 11.6 points, 2.0 assists and 4.4 rebounds per outing for the Coyotes.
