SEASIDE, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team swept their season series over rival Cal State Monterey Bay with a 65-53 victory Saturday afternoon in the Kelp Bed.

The Pioneers have now won seven consecutive series in the "Battle of the Bays" rivalry, women's hoops edition and 15 straight total, dating back to Feb. 2013.

With the victory, East Bay improves to 16-8 on the season and remain in third place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings with a 12-6 record in league play.

The Pioneers controlled the game from the opening tip and outscored the Otters, 12-7 in the first quarter. Monterey Bay came out hot to open the second quarter but East Bay made the necessary defensive adjustments and never trailed after the 2:58 mark in that quarter. In total, East Bay scored 20 points off turnovers while forcing 17 total turnovers.

Overall, the CSUEB defense held CSUMB to just 29.8 percent from the field including 25 percent from three-point range. Offensively the Pioneers shot 45.8 percent from the field led by a career-high 21 points from
Madison Schiller on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor and a perfect 7-of-7 from the charity stripe. Schiller also racked up two steals and a rebound in 27 minutes.

Morgan Greene collected her fourth double double of the season finishing with 13 points and a game high 11 rebounds. Greene shot 4-of-7 from the field, knocking down one three-pointer and converting all four of her foul shots.
Kayley Hsiung notched eight points, four rebounds, two steals, a block and a steal.

The Pioneers outscored the Otters, 34-18 inside the painted area and won the rebounding matchup 40-29. CSUEB got plenty of help from the reserve players paced by 10 points by senior
Regina Sankey. Sankey added nine rebounds while going 3-for-6 from the field.
Mina Tameliau chipped in five points with three rounds and
Zhane Duckett tallied four points and a team-best four steals.

As a team, East Bay went 17-for-19 from the free throw line, their third best clip of the season.

The Pioneers will return to Hayward a Homecoming slate that includes a pair games against UC San Diego and Cal State San Marcos on Senior Day next week.
