HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team will play their first home contest of 2020 when they welcome in rival Cal State Monterey Bay for the first installment of the "Battle of the Bays" clash.

The Pioneers will face the Otters on Saturday, January 11 at 1:00 inside Pioneer Gymnasium. CSUEB is currently sitting atop the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings with a 7-2 conference mark and a 11-4 overall record.

East Bay has won 13 consecutive games over the Monterey Bay Otters, dating back to Feb. 2013. It is the team's longest winning streak amongst any opponent in the league.

The Cal State Monterey Bay Otters are currently 3-8 on the season with a 3-6 record in CCAA play after their one-point, upset victory over No. 22 UC San Diego before falling to No. 16 Cal State San Marcos to close the weekend. Sylvia Vartazarian leads the Otters 14.4 points per contest with 6.5 rebounds. Katie Fitzgerald is adding 13.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
