HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team dropped a close, hard-fought match to UC San Diego, 1-0, in overtime on Friday night at Pioneer Stadium.

After playing to a scoreless tie through 90 minutes of regulation, UC San Diego's Brett Jones knocked in a diagonal shot from the right side for the Golden Goal in the 95^th minute.

Freshman goalkeeper Sean O'Brien finished with eight saves in an outstanding defensive performance for Cal State East Bay (2-4, 0-1 CCAA). The Brea, Calif., native's save on a Aidan Cuevas' shot in the 82^nd minute helped push the contest into overtime.

The Pioneers return to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 29, when they play host to Cal State San Marcos beginning at 2 p.m.
