HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team will finally get the opportunity to play in front of their home town fans as they open California Collegiate Athletic Association action with a pair of matches against UC San Diego and Cal State San Marcos.
 
The Pioneers will open conference play a Friday evening matchup against the Tritons before wrapping up the weekend Saturday afternoon with a contest against the Cougars.
 
East Bay is off to a 1-7 start to the season after competing in both the PLNU Seaside Challenge and the D2 West Region Volleyball Showcase, where they played some of the best teams the West Region has to offer.
 
The Pioneers are 5-10 all-time against UC San Diego with a 2-4 record inside Pioneer Gymnasium. East Bay has a 3-3 all-time record against San Marcos with a 2-0 record in Hayward. CSUEB has also won two matches against Cal State San Marcos.

SCOUTING UC SAN DIEGO
The UC San Diego Tritons are 6-2 on the season with victories over Saint Martin's, Montana State Billings, Concordia (CA) and Academy of Art during the West Region Showcase. Sydney Tekstra leads the Tritons with 92 kills and Alyson Penrose is tops on UC San Diego with 98 digs.
 
SCOUTING CAL STATE SAN MARCOS
The Cal State San Marcos Cougars are 6-3 on the season after going 1-3 in the West Region Showcase. The Cougars fell to Alaska Anchorage, Simon Fraser and Point Loma before defeating Biola to conclude the weekend. Olivia Aguilar leads San Marcos with 87 kills and Grecia Cordero-Barr is tops on the Cougars with 168 digs.
