ST. GEORGE, Utah --
The Cal State East Bay men's golf team closed out the 2018-19 season with an 18th place finish this week at NCAA Division II West/South-Central Regionals, held over three days at The Ledges Golf Club.

The Pioneers were tied for fifth place after shooting a solid 291 (+3) in round one on Thursday, but they fell down the team standings after carding 298 (+10) on Friday and 300 (+12) on Saturday. CSUEB finished the 54-hole tournament with a team total of 889 (+25).

Joey Herrera was East Bay's most consistent player and ended up as the highest-finishing individual as well. The junior shot 73-73-72 to finish two strokes over par, which earned him a share of 38th place in the individual field.

Greg Smith shot the team's only under-par round to open Regionals on Thursday with a 69. Fellow senior Will Barnett was even par in round one, but neither player was able to reach those same heights in the final two rounds. Smith finished three over for the week, with Barnett two strokes behind him.

A trio of CCAA schools -- UC San Diego, Cal State Monterey Bay, and Sonoma State -- made the top four to advance to NCAA Championships alongside tournament host Dixie State. Below are CSUEB's final individual scores.
