SEASIDE, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay men's golf team finished in third place this week at 2019 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships, held at Black Horse Golf Course.

The Pioneers turned in a team score of 297 (+9) in Wednesday's final round to finish the 54-hole tournament at 879 (+15). They led the nine-team field narrowly after each of the first two rounds, but were overtaken by nationally ranked squads Cal State Monterey Bay and Sonoma State in the final round.

The Otters captured the team title by finishing seven over par on their home course, and they boasted the top two individuals in the field.

The Pioneers were led by junior Joey Herrera, who carded 74 in the third round to finish the week at 217 (+1). His fifth place individual finish earned Herrera a spot on the CCAA All-Tournament Team. 

Chase Wickman shot 74 as well on Wednesday to finish off an outstanding championship performance for the sophomore. He was three over par for the tournament and took eighth place for his first individual top-10 of the year. 

Below are CSUEB's final individual scores. Next up, the Pioneers will head to St. George, Utah in two weeks to compete at NCAA Division II Regionals. They were No. 4 in the West in the most recent regional rankings and will be looking to earn the program's first West/South-Central Regional title and its second trip to NCAA DII National Championships.
