SANTEE, Calif. --
Cal State East Bay senior Will Barnett captured his first career tournament crown this week, finishing in first place out of 90 golfers at UC San Diego's annual SoCal Intercollegiate.

The left-hander carded back-to-back rounds of 69 and finished six strokes under par for the tournament, leading the Pioneers to third place in the team standings at the par-72 Carlton Oaks Golf Club.

The second round, which was suspended for darkness Monday,  was completed Tuesday morning before the teams played the final round of the 54-hole event. CSUEB shot 289 (+1) in round two, then finished the tournament with a 294 (+6) round three for a total score of 882 (+18). They ended up 15 strokes behind the tournament champion, Sonoma State.
