SAN MARCOS, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team kicked off their final road trip of the regular season with a tough 61-48 loss to Cal State San Marcos on Thursday evening, February 28 in The Sports Center.

With the loss, East Bay moves to 13-14 on the season with a 10-11 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action. Even with the loss the Pioneers remain in the fifth spot in the league standings keeping their playoff hopes alive.

The Pioneers had a tough night shooting from the field. connecting on only 32.7 percent of their shots including 18.2 percent from three-point range. East Bay also dished out a season-low two assists during the contest.

On a bright note,
Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.) did shine well for the Pioneers as she poured in a game-high 19 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field. Woolridge knocked down six of her eight foul shots while collecting a game-best three steals to go along with a rebound and one three-pointer made.

Despite being out rebounded on the boards, 42-37 for the ball game senior
Savannah McGill (Lacey, Wash.) Â corralled 18 rebounds, including 16 on the defensive end. McGill added 10 points, an assist and a steal across 33 minutes of action.

San Marcos held the advantage over East Bay in almost every statistical category. The Cougars outscored the Pioneers, 32-24 in points inside the painted area and scored 19 points on 21 turnovers from CSUEB. East Bay was also outpaced in bench production 25-15 fro the contest.

Regina Sankey (San Jose, Calif.) finished with nine points and and four rebounds to lead the Cal State East Bay reserves. Sankey added two steals with four made shots from the charity stripe for the game through 25 minutes on the court.

Faith Turner (Auburn, Wash.) and
Madison Schiller (Ridgecrest, Calif.) tallied four points each for the Pioneers. Turner chipped two rebounds in 21 minutes while Schiller added three rebounds and a steal in 20 minutes off the bench.
Delia Moore (Merced, Calif.) was second on East Bay was five rebounds to go along with two points and in a steal in 12 minutes.

The Pioneer will conclude the regular season with their toughest matchup of them all. A meeting with the No.2 team in the nation UC San Diego who remains undefeated at 25-0.
