HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball program will conclude their regular season schedule with a trip to Southern California for games against Cal State San Marcos and No. 2 UC San Diego.

East Bay is .500 on the season at 13-13 overall with a 10-10 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action. CSUEB is currently in the fifth spot in league standings headed into the final weekend on the regular season.

WEEK IN REVIEW
The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day in Hayward with a 73-59 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers also picked up two points in the "Battle of the Bays" competition after sweeping the season series over the Otters.

Prior to the game, Cal State East Bay honored 2018-19 seniors:
Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.),
Savannah McGill (Lacey, Wash.) and
Courtenay Brown (Oakland, Calif.) with a brief ceremony. All three played pivotal roles in the Pioneers win.

Woolridge finished with 11 points and a team high six assists on 4-for-9 shooting from the field. She went 2-for-4 from three-point range with three rebounds, a steal and a block through 22 minutes. McGill led East Bay with 10 rebounds while added eight points, two assists across 31 minutes. Brown notched 10 points on 3-for-6 shooting from the floor in 21 minutes off the bench. She went 3-for-4 from the charity stripe and snagged two steals.

The Pioneers were scorching hot from three-point land knocking down a season-high 12 shots from distance. East Bay shot 48 percent from deep and 42.2 percent for the contest.

The Pioneer bench was responsible for 30 of the teams 73 total points led by game high 18 points from
Regina Sankey (San Jose, Calif.) including four three-point baskets en route to a 6-for-11 shooting from the field. Sankey was outstanding on the defensive end of the floor racking up a career-best six steals to go along with four rebounds and a perfect 2-for-2 from the foul line.

Kayley Hsiung (Bakersfield, Calif.) compiled 13 points while sinking three jumpers and grabbing three rebounds on the way to 5-for-8 shooting from the field in 29 minutes.
Faith Turner (Auburn, Wash.) chipped in eight points and four rebounds through 21 minutes of action.

East Bay will head into the final weekend on regular season play with a trip south for games against Cal State San Marcos and UC San Diego.

PIONEER POINTS
Savannah McGill leads the Pioneers in minutes, rebounding, free throws made and blocks on the season, and she's one of just six CCAA players currently averaging more than 10 rebounds per game. McGill is second in the conference and tied for 9th in the nation with 11.6 rebounds per game and 17th in the CCAA with 60 assists. She has 10 double doubles on the season including seven double doubles in league play and has grabbed 13 or more rebounds in nine of the last 14 games.

Elayshia Woolridge has come on strong over the last two months. Woolridge leads the Pioneers with 11.5 points in CCAA action including double figures scoring in 15 of the last 19 games. She is first on the team with 2.7 assists through 30.0 minutes per outing.

Regina Sankey has played well of late for Cal State East Bay. Sankey has notched double figures in eight of the last 11 contests, including back to back games with 20 plus points. She is averaging 11.0 points and 5.0 rebounds on 44.2 percent shooting through 21.5 minutes per game off the bench in league play.

Pioneers ranks as the top defensive team in the CCAA. They're first in the league in scoring defense (60.1 ppg) and third in opponent field goal percentage (.362). They have also been effective defending the three-point arc, holding teams to 28.4 percent. East Bay has performed impressively on the glass, they are second among the 13 CCAA schools in rebounding defense (36.6) and third in rebounding offense (40.0). The Pioneers are second in the league in total rebounds with 1080.

SCOUTING CAL STATE SAN MARCOS
The Cal State San Marcos Cougars are 15-9 on the season with a 12-8 showing in CCAA contests after back-to-back victories over SF State and Sonoma State last weekend. Jon'Nae Vermillion leads San Marcos with 14.0 points and 8.3 rebounds. Emma Forel is adding 13.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per outing for the Cougars.

SCOUTING #2 UC SAN DIEGO
The UC San Diego Tritons are ranked second in the nation with a current record of 24-0 with a 20-0 mark in conference season after victories over Sonoma State and SF State. Mikayla Williams is leading the Tritons with 20.0 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Haleigh Hatfield is chipping in 10.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per outing.
