HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team will highlight the Homecoming festivities with a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matches against San Francisco State and Sonoma State to close the weekend.

East Bay improved to 11-12 on the season with an 8-9 mark in league play after sweeping past Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills on their road trip last week.

WEEK IN REVIEW
The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team picked up a huge California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) road victory over Cal State LA by a final score of 67-56 on Thursday evening, February 7 in the Eagles' Nest.

With the win, East Bay improves to 10-12 on the season with 7-9 mark in conference action. The Pioneers pulled off the season sweep over the Golden Eagles after claiming a 53-51 victory over CSULA December 1 inside Pioneer Gymnasium.

The Pioneers on the other hand were hot down the stretch as they outscored the Golden Eagles 24-16 in the second half. Senior point guard
Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.) scored a game high 19 points with 13 of those points coming after the intermission. Woolridge shot 7-for-16 from the field with five assists, three rebounds, a block and a steal while going a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line in 33 minutes.

East Bay dominated inside the painted area for the ball game as they outscored the CSULA 32-16 in paint points while also out rebounding the the home team by 20, 46-26. Sophomore
Faith Turner (Auburn, Wash.) compiled a season best 12 points with eight rebounds on 6-for-9 shooting from the field. Turner also led CSUEB with two block through 27 minutes.

The Pioneer bench played a key factor in the win as they held a 29-15 for the game.
Courtenay Brown (Oakland, Calif.) notched her second consecutive double digit effort off the bench with 11 points. Brown led East Bay with three three-point field goals made to go along with three rebounds and two assists with two made free throws in 28 minutes.

Madison Schiller (Ridgecrest, Calif.) added poured in 11 points and three rebounds in 22 minutes as a reserve. Schiller went 3-for-6 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.
Regina Sankey (San Jose, Calif.) added five points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in 19 minutes off the bench.

Senior
Savannah McGill (Lacey, Wash.) was a dominate force on the glass collecting a game-high 15 rebounds all on the defensive end. McGill contributed four points across 33 minutes.

East Bay swept their weekend So. Cal road trip to move to one game shy of .500 at 11-12 with an 8-9 in league play. CSUEB showed toughness down the stretch of the game as they battled back from an 11-point second half deficit.
Cal State East Bay's reserves proved to be the true factor is the ball game is they accounted for 38 points which was 61 percent of the team's total. Sophomore
Madison Schiller (Ridgecrest, Calif.) led the Pioneers with 14 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field as she grabbed a career best nine rebounds with three steals, both team-highs.

Courtenay Brown (Oakland, Calif.,) turned in another great effort off the bench with 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting with a rebound, an assist, and a steal. Brown led the East Bay reserves with 23 minutes as she notched her third consecutive double figure scoring contest. She has been a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line through that span.

Regina Sankey (San Jose, Calif.) chipped in six points, three assists and five rebounds in 19 minutes of play. Sankey secured a game-high four steals while going 3-for-7 from the floor.

East Bay was outrebounded for just the seventh all season as the home team Toros pulled in 56 rebounds to 41 from the Pioneers. CSUDH was able to add 14 second chance points off 19 total offensive rebounds. But it was the Pioneers that held ground inside the painted area as they scorched Dominguez Hills for 44 paint points.

Kayley Hsiung (Bakersfield, Calif.) paced all CSUEB starters with seven points and a team-best four assists across 37 minutes of action.
Elayshia Woolridge added six points, two rebounds, an assist and a steal in 24 minutes.

Faith Turner each brought in five rebounds and one block each. McGill finished with five points and Turner score four for CSUEB.

PIONEER POINTS
Savannah McGill leads the Pioneers in minutes, field goals made, rebounding, assists, and blocks for the season, and she's one of just six CCAA players currently averaging more than 10 rebounds per game. McGill is second in the conference and tied for 9th in the nation with 11.7 rebounds per game and ninth in the CCAA with 21 blocks. She has nine double doubles on the season including six double doubles in league play and has grabbed 13 or more rebounds in eight of the last 11 games.

Elayshia Woolridge has come on strong over the last two months. Woolridge leads the Pioneers with 11.4 points in CCAA action including double figures scoring in 12 of the last 16 games. She is second on the team with 2.5 assists through 30.2 minutes per outing.

Regina Sankey has played well of late for Cal State East Bay. Sankey has notched double figures in five of the last eight contests. She is averaging 9.0 points and 4.6 rebounds on 43.4 percent shooting through 20.4 minutes per game in league play.

Pioneers ranks as the top defensive team in the CCAA. They're first in the league in scoring defense (59.5 ppg) and in opponent field goal percentage (.356). They have also been effective defending the three-point arc, holding teams to 28.3 percent. East Bay has performed impressively on the glass, they are tied for first among the 13 CCAA schools in rebounding defense (36.1) and second in the league in total rebounds with 947.

SCOUTING SAN FRANCISCO STATE
The San Francisco State Gators enter the matchup with the East Bay carrying an 8-13 mark on the season with a 7-9 showing in CCAA action after back-to-back losses to Dominguez Hills and Sonoma State over the weekend. Jahina Stephens is leading the Gators with 14.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per outing. Toni Edwards is chipping on 9.8 points and 5.0 assists per game for SF State.

SCOUTING SONOMA STATE
The Sonoma State Seawolves come into the contest against the Pioneers with a 9-10 overall record and a 7-9 record in league play in a win over SF State in their lone game of the week. Ugochi Anudokem is leading the Seawolves with 13.5 points and 12.8 rebounds. Kylie Kiech is adding 11.1 points and 3.8 rebounds for Sonoma State.
