Josh Dhatt Has Career Night as Pioneers Overwhelm SF State, 80-62

SAN FRANCISCO — Junior forward Josh Dhatt scored a career-high 19 points to lift the Cal State East Bay men's basketball to a convincing road win Saturday evening over Bay Bridge rival San Francisco State, 80-62.

With the victory, Cal State East Bay (7-3, 3-1 CCAA) has won three-straight meetings against its Bay Area rival, and three of its last four contests overall.

Dhatt scored 15 of his game-high 19 points in the first half, and finished the game shooting 7-for-8 from the field with three 3-pointers and five steals.

Senior forward Ant Navarrete also finished with 19 points along with six rebounds and four assists. Junior forward Zafir Williams finished with 16 points, while junior guard Nai Carlisle added 12 points with 10 rebounds and six assists.

Williams has now scored in double figures in each of the first 10 games of his CSUEB career.

The Pioneers shot .509 percent from the field and recorded 19 assists. Cal State East Bay also tallied 15 steals and held SF State (5-5, 2-2) to .386 percent shooting from the field.

The Pioneers took a commanding 47-22 advantage into halftime, fueled by a 17-0 run early in the first half.

Sophomore forward Justin Vigil made consecutive 3-pointers to push the Pioneer lead to 12, and Dhatt's 3-pointer made it 21-4 with 11:13 remaining in the first half.

Cal State East Bay returns to action next week with two CCAA home contests beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Pioneers play host to Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, Dec. 12, before taking on Humboldt State on Saturday, Dec. 14.
