Pioneers Set to Clash With Toros, Tangle With Gators

HAYWARD, Calif., -- After going 2-0 in at the 2019 Humboldt Thanksgiving Classic last week, the Cal State East Bay women's basketball team will return to California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play with a pair of contests against Cal State Dominguez Hills and San Francisco State.
 
East Bay will host Dominguez Hills on Thursday night at 5:30 for a Finals Prep/Pizza Party Night inside Pioneer Gymnasium. The Pioneers will then hit Interstate 80 for the first installment of the "Bay Bridge Battle" on Saturday at 5:30 in The Swamp.
 
The Pioneers are off to a 6-2 start to the season with a 2-0 mark in conference play. CSUEB is currently riding a five game win streak after defeating West Region foes, Dominican and Notre Dame De Namur.

  • Madison Schiller is currently 8th in the conference with 3.5 apg. Schiller is also 6th in the league with a 1.9 assist/turnover ratio. She also has a team-high 19 steals on the season. 
SCOUTING CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS
The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros enter their matchup with the Pioneers carrying a 4-4 overall record after back-to-back losses to Azuza Pacific and Biola last week. The Toros are 1-1 in CCAA action and are averaging a league-best 79.8 percent shooting clip. Ahlisha Henderson leads CSUDH with 11.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Destinee Williams is adding 11.4 points and 8.4 rebounds for the Toros.
 
SCOUTING SAN FRANCISCO STATE
The San Francisco State Gators come into their matchup against East Bay with an 0-5 overall mark with an 0-2 showing in CCAA play after losses to Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State San Marcos. Jolene Armendariz is tops on the Gators averaging 14.4 points and 6.6 rebounds. Kelea Pickeral-Dennis is chipping in 12 points and 9.8 rebounds for SF State.
