HAYWARD, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team wrapped up the 2019 calendar year with a huge, 82-70 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) victory over Stanislaus State Sunday afternoon inside Pioneer Gymnasium.

With the win, the Pioneers improve to 10-3 overall on the season with a 6-1 record in conference play after their second victory over a top-three team in the CCAA Standings in as many weeks.

The Pioneers were in control from the opening tip, taking a 21-15 lead after the opening quarter and going up 38-28 at the intermission. CSUEB would go ahead by as much as 21 midway through the 4th quarter as they shot 44.6 percent from the field for the contest.

The East Bay defense was suffocating yet again as they held Stanislaus State to just 34.9 percent shooting for the ball game, including 28.5 percent shooting in the first half. It was the Pioneers eighth-consecutive contest holding an opponent under 40 percent shooting for the game.

CSUEB also forced 18 turnovers by Stan State that they converted into 19 points. The Pios committed 19 turnovers of their own that led to 14 points for the visiting Warriors. Despite the sloppy ball control, East Bay was able to outscore Stanislaus State in every quarter while only trailing for 20 seconds on game time.

In total, the Pioneers led for 37 minutes and 53 seconds with four players notching double figure scoring marks.
Madison Schiller led all Pioneer starters with 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting. Schiller went 3-of-4 from the foul line with four assists, four rebounds and a steal.
Faith Turner was a force inside the paint scoring 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field. Turner was a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe with seven rebounds and an assist.

Kayley Hsiung was hot from outside for CSUEB finishing with 11 points on 3-for-8 accuracy from beyond the three-point line. Hsiung paced the Pioneers with five assists to go along with four rebounds, a block and a steal across 31 minutes of action.
Morgan Greene led East Bay with eight rebounds to go along with five points. The Pioneers out rebounded the Warriors, 37-33 for the game.Â

The Pioneers reserves were a major factor in the game as they outscored the Warrior bench 36-22.
Regina Sankey led all scorers with 17 points on 6-for-11 shooting for the game. Sankey knocked down 3-of-4 shots from beyond the arc while sinking both of her foul shots. She also tied the team lead with two steals. Guards
Delia Moore and
Zhane Duckett turned in solid production for the Pios bench as well. Moore compiled eight points, all from the foul line, with six rebounds, four assists and a steal. Duckett tallied nine points, seven of those from the charity stripe, two steals and two blocks.

East Bay will enjoy the holiday break before returning to action in 2020 with a pair of road matches against two more top ranked teams in the CCAA and the nation in No. 16 Cal State San Marcos and No. 22 UC San Diego.
