Stellar Defense Not Enough in Double Overtime Loss at CSU San Bernardino, 1-0

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team was once again stellar defensively, but suffered a narrow double-overtime road loss at Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday, 1-0.

The Pioneers and Coyotes played to a stalemate through 100 minutes of action, before CSUSB (7-9-1, 5-6 CCAA) won it with a Golden Goal by Vanessa Gonzalez in the 106th minute.

Both teams finished with 11 shots apiece, while junior Abby Buitrago recorded a team-high two shots on target. Senior Chace Miguel also had a shot on goal and freshman goalkeeper Jordan Smith finished with three saves.

Cal State East Bay (5-8-3, 4-5-1) wraps up regular-season play next weekend with road contests at Chico State on Nov. 7 and at Stanislaus State on Nov. 9.
