Â
"In order to leave the Warrior Classic 2-0 we will need to take that experience to the next level, by finding high percentage shot opportunities," expressed Head Coach
Shanele Stires. "We have to play with defensive energy without fouling, as well as take care of the basketball. If we can do that, I think it would be a solid step for our team. NDNU and Holy Names are well coached so we have our work cut out for us."
Â
The Pioneers kicked off their the 2019-20 season at the Western Oregon Conference Classic were they went 1-1 after defeating Concordia (Ore.), 67-55 before falling to Western Oregon, 49-65 in the tournament finale.
Â
"We learned a lot about decision making in early offense," explained Stires. "Especially our younger players. I think we are sharing the basketball at a very high level, that showed against Concordia."

Cal State East Bay was picked to finish fifth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Preseason Coaches Poll. East Bay has been picked to finish in the top 5 of the league in each of the last three seasons, but is coming off a solid 2018-19 campaign.
