Women's Soccer Suffers Loss at Cal Poly Pomona

POMONA, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team suffered a setback on the road Friday night, falling to No. 22-ranked Cal Poly Pomona, 5-0, at Kellogg Stadium.

The Pioneers put themselves in an early hole as the Broncos scored the eventual game-winning score in the 15th minute.

CSUEB had a 5-0 edge in corner kicks, but were unable to convert and cut into the deficit.

Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Smith and sophomore goalkeeper Briana Vasquez-Ortiz finished with four saves apiece, while seniors Ally Smith, Chace Miguel and junior Abby Buitrago each recorded one shot.

Cal State East Bay returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 3, when it continues its two-match road trip at Cal State San Bernardino beginning at 2 p.m.
