McDougal, Miguel Lift Pioneers Past SF State, 2-1, for Second-Straight Win

SAN FRANCISCO — Junior Lauren McDougal scored for the second-consecutive game, and senior Chace Miguel knocked in the game-winning goal in the 51st minute to lift the Cal State East Bay women's soccer team to a road victory over San Francisco State, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon.

Cal State East Bay (4-5-3, 3-2-1 CCAA) has now won two straight games and is unbeaten in six of its last eight contests overall. The victory gives the Pioneers 10 points in the conference standings, pulling them into seventh place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) standings behind Cal State San Marcos (12 points).

It's also the first time Cal State East Bay has won back-to-back CCAA games since 2011.

McDougal's sixth goal of the season came on a penalty kick in the 41st minute to tie the score, 1-1. Miguel put CSUEB ahead for good in the 51st minute with her second goal of the year off an assist from senior defender Ally Smith.

SF State (2-9-1, 0-7) scored on a goal by Emily Kaleal in the 6th minute.

Pioneer freshman goalkeeper Jordan Smith finished with nine saves in the net, while McDougal had a team-best three shots.

Cal State East Bay resumes conference play next weekend with home matches against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 25, and Cal State LA on Oct. 27.
